Our Story
Our story begins in 1998. I have been successful with other inventions so I decided to try to produce a superior pet bed solution.
My dog at the time (Zac, a 105lb. Black Lab) needed something more substantial than the existing options. Oil in the cedar shavings in the pillowcase type beds promoted hair loss on Zac’s stomach area. Pet beds that used shredded foam, low density foam or Dacron fillers as filler became “dirt sponges” when combined with a permeable pet bed cover.
I knew my pet bed design would cost more than big box store beds. However, when I balanced my product against general pet expenses, offshore produced items that do not get used everyday (Clothing, luggage, recreational equipment) the extra expense produced extraordinary value for the dog owner and comfort for the pet.
During 2003 Zac developed bone cancer in his right front leg. After having the leg amputated the orthopedic features of the bed proved their merits. Easy access into and out of the bed, firmer footing, a stain blocker treated pet bed cover, side bolsters that kept Zac on the bed and the extra thick fleece blanket are features that helped with Zac’s recovery.
